About Dystronomicon

Dystronomicon is a death metal force bridging raw underground authenticity with contemporary sonic precision. Founded by Roman Schoensee and Louis Buurman, the project channels the unrelenting intensity of early '90s death metal while forging an uncompromising modern direction.

Rooted in heavy riffs, dark atmosphere, and driving rhythm, Dystronomicon represents both a continuation of old-school roots and an evolution into a refined, powerful present.

Origins (1988–1993)

The roots of the project trace back to Roman Schoensee’s former band Dystrophy, active in the underground metal scene from 1988 to 1994. During this formative era, the group released two raw demo tapes (1991, 1993) and a full-length album in 1994, sharing stages with acts like Pyogenesis, Postmortem, and Casket.

After building a dedicated local presence, Dystrophy disbanded following the tragic passing of its drummer, drawing the original chapter to a close as band members pursued other musical paths.

Rebirth (2025–Now)

In 2025, Roman revisited his early archival material and joined forces with Louis Buurman (his former bandmate from The Dreamside) to rebuild and reinterpret those early foundations under a new identity: Dystronomicon.

Rebooting with a remastered reissue of the 1991 demo Isolated by Myself—and featuring a guest appearance by Schorsch of Casket—the project bridges underground legacy with modern production, laying the groundwork for future original material.
